Financial student aid

Financial student aid must be applied for through CSN. (The Swedish National Board of Student Aid)

Financial student aid
  • Financial student aid is made up of part subsidy and part loan and is granted for adult upper secondary school studies from and including the autumn term of the year you turn 20 to the year you turn 54.
  • Financial student aid is calculated weekly, i.e. you apply for a specific number of weeks for full- or part-time studies (50 or 75%).
  • There are two levels for the subsidy part of the grant: one general and one higher. The total amount, i.e. the sum of the subsidy and the loan, however, is the same for all students.
  • For studies at compulsory school level the higher grant may be paid from and including the year you turn 25 if you do not have a complete school leaving certificate.
  • Supplementary benefit for children to be paid for studies with financial student aid. The child´s custodian receives child allowance up to and including the year the child reaches the age of 18. The size of the allowance depends on the number of children and the study tempo (full or part time).
  • NB! CSN carries out an automatic eligibility test for the higher grant. You do not need to apply.
