Cycle through Falun’s historic landscapes and discover master miners’ estates, scenic lakes, and baroque gardens. Explore Lake Varpan and Staberg for a unique blend of nature, culture, and heritage.

Lake VarpAn

Just north of central Falun is Lake Varpan. Around Varpan there are several master miners’ estates, slag heaps and remains of cabins. Feel free to cycle the 15-kilometre stretch around the lake and experience a beautiful agricultural landscape and several well-preserved master miners’ estates. Information signs telling about the history of the miners and cabin workers are set up around the lake. The miners' farms around Lake Varpan are all privately owned, but it is good to see them from a distance.

Stabergs Master Miners estate

From Stora torget in central Falun there is a signposted, 11-kilometer long cycle path to Stabergs Master Miners’ estate. Once there, there are hiking trails for both children and adults, a café, a restaurant and a well visited baroque garden. Feel free to hike up to Staberg's heel and enjoy the view over Lake Runn.
